Unlike traditional piercings that pass through two points, a dermal anchor has a flat base plate that anchors beneath the skin with a decorative top that sits on the surface.
They can be placed almost anywhere on the body — collarbones, chest, back dimples, face, wrists, hips, and more. This versatility makes them one of the most creative and striking piercing options available.
Dermal anchors require a very different technique than standard piercings. Placement depth, angle, and tissue selection are critical — get it wrong and the body will reject the anchor. We have performed hundreds of successful dermal anchor placements and know exactly how to maximize longevity.
We use only ASTM F136 implant-grade titanium anchors and decorative tops — the same material used in orthopedic implants. This is non-negotiable. Low-quality jewelry is the #1 cause of dermal rejection and scarring.

Dermal anchor placement takes about 10–20 minutes depending on placement complexity. We use a dermal punch or needle technique (we'll discuss which is better for your chosen placement). The anchor foot is inserted beneath the skin, and the decorative top is secured on top.
You'll leave with written aftercare instructions and the ability to reach us with any questions during healing. We do free check-up appointments.
At Multnomah Piercing Studio: $175 for one dermal anchor, $250 for two. Both prices include implant-grade titanium jewelry. This is significantly more affordable than the few other studios in Oregon that offer this service.

Yes. We also perform dermal anchor removal. The procedure is simple when done by an experienced piercer. If you have an anchor from another studio that's rejecting or you simply want it removed, we can help.
